Colombia's digital nomad V visa may be granted for up to two years to nationals of short-stay visa-exempt countries who work remotely for foreign companies or pursue an eligible digital venture. Bank statements for the previous three months must show income of at least three current Colombian monthly minimum wages. Applicants also need evidence of their remote activity and health insurance covering Colombia. The visa does not authorize paid work for people or companies domiciled in Colombia.

Who may qualify

  • You work for a company outside Colombia or have foreign clients.
  • Your income is continuous and can be documented.
  • Your nationality is on Colombia's short-stay visa-exempt list.
  • You are not using this category to enter Colombia's local labor market.

Requirements and documents

  • Passport valid for at least six months, biographical page copy and digital photo; if applying inside Colombia, proof of lawful stay.
  • Letter in Spanish or English from a foreign company explaining the work relationship and remuneration; contract if one exists, or proof of ownership and a letter describing remote work.
  • For entrepreneurs, a letter explaining the digital venture and available or planned financial and human resources.
  • Bank statements for the previous three months showing the required income.
  • Health insurance valid in Colombia for the planned stay and covering the risks listed in the regulation.

How to apply

  1. Check the category

    Confirm your nationality, activity and documents match the visa you plan to request.

  2. Prepare the files

    Gather your passport, photo and category-specific evidence. Check legalization and translation rules where applicable.

  3. Apply online

    Complete the official Ministry of Foreign Affairs form and upload legible, consistent documents.

  4. Pay the review fee

    Review starts after payment. This fee is nonrefundable and does not guarantee approval.

  5. Handle the decision

    Respond to any request for more information. If approved, pay the issuance fee and check the visa details.

General 2026 V visa fee: USD 56 for review and USD 138 for issuance if approved (USD 194 total). Exemptions, taxes or euro payment may apply; confirm the amount when paying.

Visa-exempt nationals may receive an entry permit for up to 90 days, extendable under the applicable rules to a maximum of 180 days in a calendar year, provided they receive no payments from Colombian companies. That permit is separate from the V visa.
